About the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC)

Since its founding in 1898, the parent organization of OFMC, the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), has become the largest nonprofit organization in America to promote and support American music, performers, and music education.

A grassroots organization working in communities throughout America, it provides musical opportunities for all ages: professional and amateur musicians, benefactors, volunteers, music lovers, music teachers, music students, and supportive parents.

As individuals and local groups, OFMC works together throughout the state of Ohio to develop and maintain high musical standards, aid and encourage musical education, and promote American music and American artists.  Each spring, 4 districts across Ohio host an event called Junior Festival.  Piano, instrumental and vocal students learn and memorize two pieces and perform them for two judges and receive comments and an overall rating.  Over time, they can earn gold cup trophies, other performance opportunities and monetary awards.   This motivational event is one of the many ways OFMC supports young musicians.

“The OFMC Foundation for the Advancement of Music” now annually distributes over $60,000 in scholarships, awards and support to members, ranging from Junior composition students to Collegiate music scholarships, music therapy scholarships and intern grants, and on to Ph.D. scholarships.
